7 Secrets On How To Keep From Overeating At Restaurants

We eat with our eyes, not with our stomachs. This is especially
true when dining out. We tend to over eat tasty, yummy looking food and we forget that the nasty surprises concealed by these high calorie foods served in the restaurants.

Below are a few things that you can use to beat the urge to overeat while you are dining out.

Eat a healthy snack before you go to the restaurant

Entering a restaurant with an empty stomach can be lethal. Hence, have a healthy snack before you get to the restaurant. Drink a cup of tea or snack on a handful of unsalted snacks at home.

Drink before you eat

Make sure your body is properly hydrated before you head out for the restaurant, just to make sure that your body doesn't confuse thirst for hunger. Research shows that keeping body properly hydrated makes you feel full and you tend to eat less. Having a glass of water or low calorie drink before you head out for a meal is not a bad idea. Also, order something to drink along with meal, it would keep a check on your food intake.

Eat slowly

Take your time and eat slowly, chewing properly and enjoying the taste and aroma of the food you intake. Don't make it a race, enjoy what you eat and enjoy the company of people you are eating out with. You will realize this way you will end up eating less.

Share the food you order

You are less likely to overeat if you share the food. Order couple of dishes between 3-4 people and share the food.

Don't order big 4-5 course meal

We always tend to eat that is in front of us. Avoid ordering for a big four or five course meal. Skip appetizer and directly order main course. Share your dessert with your loved one. Like this you will both eat less, and still enjoy tasty sweet dessert.

Check out the ingredients

That's true. Asking your waiter about what your dish is made can be a revealing experience. Once you know that your dish is made from a list of high calorie ingredients, you may rethink about your decision of ordering that dish.

Don't drink

Try and avoid drinking alcohol before your meal arrives. Alcohol boosts your appetite and you tend to indulge in first appetizers to go with your drink, and then main course. Alcohol also impairs your brain from feeling full. Instead, take wine or alcohol directly with your main course.
